Flux Robotics.

Jordy Kitschke founded Flux Robotics in 2021 with a simple but ambitious goal: to help farmers grow more food with fewer chemicals using robotics and AI technology.

Before starting Flux, Jordy, a Jamestown local, worked as a farmer and saw firsthand how quickly the economics of farming were changing. What agriculture needed was a new way of producing more, higher-quality food while reducing inputs and environmental impact.

“I used to be a farmer. It was becoming clear that the cost of farming was becoming unsustainable, so I started exploring what could be more than an incremental cost saving. What would be a step change in the farming system to produce more, and higher quality food,” says Jordy.

That search led Jordy to emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and photonics, and eventually into building complex hardware systems. Along the way came a new challenge: learning how to build robots capable of operating in the harsh and unpredictable environment of a working farm.

“I found myself working on cutting edge technologies like AI and phototonics. Then, with the experience I gained building complex hardware systems, I started teaching myself how to build robots.”

In true South Australian style, it was the support of the community and fellow farmers that really helped propel Flux Robotics forward.

“Farmers took a risk on us, they invested their hard-earned cash into helping us get started. We absolutely could not have done this without them; it takes a community to build something special.”

From those early experiments, Flux technology has grown into robotic systems now operating on farms across Australia. The business exists to help farmers, support regional communities, and create a more sustainable future for agricultural farming.

“Our goal is to build technologies that allow farmers to produce more with less, and to be the best stewards of the land that they can be. We’re putting time back in farmer’ weeks for the important things, putting money back in the pockets of regional communities and putting skills in the hands and minds of the next generation.”
