From Adelaide to the international fashion stage, Paolo Sebastian has become one of Australia’s most recognised couture houses. Known for its intricate gowns, at Paolo Sebastian the art and tradition of couture is celebrated, where craftsmanship and time-honoured techniques create garments that are truly unique.

Founded by designer and creative director Paul Vasileff, the label has built a global reputation while remaining proudly South Australian.

Paul’s love of fashion began early. Taught to sew by his Nonna from the age of three, he completed his first evening dress at just eleven years old.

“I remember being so fascinated by the inner workings and underpinnings of garments,” he says. “There was an unspoken language in our family to always pursue our dreams.”

Today, Paul continues to honour traditional couture techniques while evolving creatively.

“We celebrate traditional couture techniques, fabrics and skills to maintain the Paolo Sebastian aesthetic whilst always moving forward. Continual training and skill development are paramount within the atelier to master and celebrate traditional methods and techniques to ensure the art of couture is kept alive.”

“With a wealth of knowledge and an array of differing expertise, we work together to merge contemporary with heritage, passing skills and traditions from one generation to the next,” Paul says.

Passionate about engaging with local community and sharing the world of couture, Paul often visits schools and TAFE to inspire students to follow their dreams.

For Paul, the brand’s legacy is grounded in craft, tradition and creativity.

“I would like to be remembered for our handwork, our craftsmanship, daring to dream and doing something different,” Paul concludes.
