The Adelaide Hills Restaurant Putting Local Produce First
Tucked away in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, Thelma Piccadilly has quietly carved out a reputation for thoughtful, produce-led dining. It’s a restaurant that feels both considered and effortless, where what’s on the plate is shaped by what’s in season and the passionate local producers behind it.
For chef and co-owner Tom Campbell, it all started with a simple idea.
“Thelma is built on the idea that good food begins with great ingredients, and the people who grow them,” says Tom.
Opened in May 2024 alongside co-owners Olivia Moore and James Spreadbury, Thelma was born from ties to the region, and the producers within it.
“Each of us had longstanding ties to the Adelaide Hills – connections with vegetable growers, grape growers, and winemakers, who inspired how and what we wanted to cook.”
Menus shift with the seasons, guided by what’s growing, what’s ready, and ongoing conversations with growers. It’s a way of cooking that feels grounded and rooted in community.
“Being close to the farms that supply our produce felt natural. It allowed us to create something thoughtful and deeply local, with a focus on flavour, seasonality, and integrity.”

Thelma’s rhythm has been shaped quietly over its first year, less about expansion, more about refinement and making sure every detail feels right, from the food to the way guests feel when they walk through the door.
That feeling extends beyond the dining room. Through harvest dinners and collaborative events, Thelma’s connection to the community runs deeper than supply – it’s social, seasonal, and shared.
“We believe good food and wine should be celebrated and accessible. By highlighting what’s grown and made here in the Hills, and creating a space that’s warm and welcoming, we offer a place where people can connect,” Tom says.
In a region defined by its plentiful quality produce and passionate local producers, Thelma Piccadilly stands as a reminder that when you start with great ingredients and the people behind them, something truly special will follow.
