Marino Meats

For nearly 50 years, Marino Meats has been a proud fixture of the Adelaide Central Market. Established in 1975, the family business began when founder Riccardo Marino’s grandfather took over from his boss. From a young age, Ricardo was part of the store’s story – working Friday nights and Saturdays after school – before officially taking over in 2012 at just 24 years old.

Ricardo says that while stepping into the role was daunting, his training in both butchery and business gave him the confidence to carry on the family legacy. “It was the right place, right time – I just had to take the opportunity,” he says.

That sense of pride and responsibility runs through everything Marino Meats produces. “Anything I sell is something I would feed my family,” Riccardo explains. “If I’m not proud of it, I won’t make it.”

For customers, shopping at Marino Meats means experiencing authentic Italian flavours, crafted with care and tradition. “At the end of the day, the products have our family name on them – so they have to be the best they can possibly be,” Riccardo says.

Beyond its own products, Marino Meats is also a strong supporter of other South Australian businesses. The Central Market is often the first stop for new producers, and Riccardo is always open to stocking local products he knows will delight his customers. “Of course we’re going to support SA,” he says.

With a reputation built on quality, heritage and community, Marino Meats continues to be a market favourite – a place where tradition meets innovation, and every product tells a story of South Australian pride.
