Rohde’s Eggs

01 October 2025

Rohde's EggsFor more than six decades, Rohde’s Eggs has been producing some of South Australia’s freshest eggs – a family tradition that began in 1957 when Ian and Jill Rohde added a few chickens to their cropping and sheep farm at Tarlee. What started as a sideline soon grew into a thriving business, now run by the third generation, Martin Rohde.

From those early days of collecting and selling eggs themselves, the operation has expanded to include a dedicated team of collectors and drivers, working 365 days a year to deliver Rohde’s Eggs to customers right across the state.

At the heart of the business is a commitment to animal welfare. “We really pride ourselves on the care of our chickens,” Martin says. “They have plenty of space to roam and scratch around, and that’s what makes for happy hens and tastier eggs.” Rohde’s Eggs is also proud to be Australia’s only RSPCA Approved egg farm, a standard they’ve maintained for more than 18 years. Rigorous audits ensure every part of the farm meets the highest animal welfare requirements – something Martin says is not easy, but worth it.

Equally important is the support Rohde’s Eggs has received from South Australian customers. “We’re really fortunate to have such a loyal base,” Martin explains. “It’s enabled us to keep growing, keep more eggs on shelves, and keep jobs in the State.”

For Martin, that’s what makes buying local so important. “When you support South Australian businesses, you’re not just buying a product – you’re helping create jobs, keeping money in the state, and strengthening our community. We’re proud to be part of that story.”
